Privacy notice
What lawyer.co learns about you, when it learns it, and what becomes of it.
In effect from October 18, 2026.
Lawyer.co is attorney advertising by The Ledger Law Firm, whose office is at 5160 Birch Street, Suite 200, Newport Beach, CA 92660. The lawyer who answers for what it says is Emery Brett Ledger.
Below, “the firm” is The Ledger Law Firm and “the site” is lawyer.co.
In brief
- The site itself sets no cookies and loads no analytics or advertising script.
- The hosting service receives your device’s IP address in order to send you each page, and keeps a log of requests (the time, the page, the IP address, the page you came from and your browser type) for 30 days. The firm reads that log only as daily totals.
- If you send the call back form, what you typed and a few details of your visit go to the firm, which records them and may call or text you.
- You can ask what the firm holds about you, or ask for it to be deleted, using the address at the end of this notice.
Notes kept in your browser
So the firm can tell which page or advertisement brought a request, the site writes two small notes to your browser’s own storage. They are not cookies, and they go nowhere unless you send the form.
- One note is about your first visit: the first page you opened, the other website you came from if there was one, any campaign tags in the address (the “utm” tags and the click identifiers that Google and Microsoft add to their ads, such as gclid and msclkid), and the time.
- The other note holds the same details for the visit you are in now, and it is erased when you close the tab.
The first note stays until you clear this site’s data in your browser settings. If your browser blocks storage, the site still works.
What the form sends
When you press the button, the site sends the firm:
- your first and last name, your phone number, your email address if you gave one, the state you chose, and anything you wrote about what happened
- that you ticked the box to be contacted, and which version of that sentence was on the screen
- the page you sent the form from, the page you landed on in this visit and in your first visit, and the website that sent you, if any
- the campaign tags and click identifiers described above
- whether you were on a phone, a tablet or a computer, and the time
- your IP address, which comes with the request
- two signals used to screen out automated submissions: how long the form was open, and a hidden box that people never fill in
What the firm does with it
- It records your request in its case management system.
- It calls or texts the number you gave, about your request and the firm’s services. A call may be placed or answered by the firm’s automated intake assistant, which the firm calls SI. SI is a computer program, not a person. Calls may be recorded, as the sentence beside the tick box says.
- It decides whether its lawyers can help, and with what.
- It keeps a record of your agreement to be contacted: the wording, the time, the page and your IP address.
- It uses the details of your visit to learn which pages and ads bring people to the site.
Who handles it for the firm
The firm does not sell what you send through this site, and the site passes nothing to advertising companies. These kinds of provider handle information for the firm so that they can provide their services to it:
- Amazon Web Services, which hosts the site and carries the form to the firm
- the provider of the firm’s case management system
- the firm’s telephone and text message providers
The firm may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Protection against abuse
To stop the form being flooded, the site counts recent requests. For that it keeps a scrambled form of your IP address and of the phone number on the request. The scrambled form cannot be turned back into the address or the number, and each entry expires about a day after it is made.
How long the firm keeps a request
For as long as it needs to answer the request and to meet its legal and professional obligations.
Your choices
- You can ask what the firm holds about you, ask for a correction, or ask for deletion. Write to the address at the end of this notice, or call the number there.
- You can stop texts by replying STOP, and you can tell any caller you want no more calls. Your carrier’s message and data rates may apply, and the number of messages varies.
- You can clear the notes in your browser at any time.
The site does not change what it does when your browser sends a “do not track” signal.
Health information
What you write about an injury is health information. If you live in Washington, or your information is collected there, the separate consumer health data privacy notice explains how it is handled.
Children
The site is not meant for children under 13, and the firm does not knowingly collect their information through it.
Changes
A changed notice will be posted here with its date. If analytics or advertising tags are ever added to the site, this notice will be changed first.
